This is a Mary Gregory style bon bon dish, in a very light amethyst coloured glass, & probably dating to the latter half of the 20th century. The dish has a hollow 'trumpet' flared pedestal foot & has been joined to the bowl via a round, clear glass knop. The dish has been decorated in white enamels, with the bowl having a half moon design to the rim & a rural scene of a seated lady & a man carrying a knapsack, with trees & 2 cottages in the backround, to the front. The rear of the bowl has a small scene of trees on a bank, whilst the foot rim has a half moon design around it's edge. The enamelling is of a very good quality & has been thickly applied, giving a textured feel to the designs. The knop looks to have had gilding at some point, although this is worn. Condition is fine, with absolutley no damage. The dish stands approx 5 3/8" tall (13.5cm) & the bowl has a diameter of approx 4 1/4" (11cm). |
