Victorian 18" VR Police Truncheon by PARKER c1840's

This is an early Victorian wooden Police issue truncheon, made by Parker's of London & bearing the Royal Cypher, & dating to around the 1840's / 50's.

The truncheon, turned from a single piece of hardwood, features a rounded end, which tapers down to a turned ring grip with a button end.

The shaft of the truncheon is embossed with Queen Victoria's cypher of a Crown over VR, whilst the end of the handle is embossed with 'PARKER 233 HOLBORN'.

The truncheon is a large example, measuring approx 18" (45.6cm) long.

Condition is fairly good, with no splits or repairs, although it does have quite a few knocks / scratches that would be expected on an original, 170 odd year old Police issue truncheon. The main point to note is a small area of harder knocks to one side & the maker mark is rubbed - please see photos.
