English Sterling Silver 'Crocodile' Cigarette Case 1906

This is an Edwardian Sterling Silver cigarette or card case, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1906, by the illustrious silversmiths Henry Griffith & Sons, of Leamington Spa.

This case has a very rare & unusual 'Crocodile Skin' embossed pattern, which covers all surfaces (inc. the interior).

The case has a curved back, to enable it to fit comfortably into a pocket, and is opened via a push button.

The interior is gilded & has the original elastic retaining straps.

The case is fully hallmarked on the front interior with the makers mark (HG&S Ltd for Henry Griffith & Sons), the lion passant (for 925 Sterling), the anchor (town mark for Birmingham), & the date letter 'g' (for 1906-07).

The rear interior carries the lion passant & date letter, & the push button carries the lion passant.

The case measures approx 8cn in Height, 6cm in Width, & 1cm in Depth.

The Weight is 46.2g, 1.64 oz, or 1.49 Troy.

Condition is excellent for age, the interior gilding might benefit from a light clean & there are 2 tiny 'pin head' bruises to the rear (these are very hard to see due to the 'crocodile' pattern & we can have these pushed out by our Silversmith, if required).
