This is a miniature 'Book of Common Prayer', printed in London, & with a sterling silver front cover, fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1910.

The silver front cover has a repousse depiction of Joshua Reynolds famous 1787 painting 'Heads of Angels'.

The book is bound in black leather with a gold embossed spine reading 'Prayer Book - London', & has gilded edges.

The binding is tight with no loose pages (630 pages) & has intact black endpapers.

The cover is fully hallmarked with the makers mark HM (Henry Matthews), the anchor (Birmingham), lion passant (925 sterling), & the date letter 'l' (1910 - 11).

Condition is great for age, the silver cover has a couple of 'pinhead' bruises, about the first 20 pages have very light foxing to the edges and, as is normal with books of this age, the paper join between the fly leaf & title page is parted. The binding is tight with no loose pages.

The book measures approx 5.5cm x 4.5cm x 1.5cm (the title page has 'Diam. 128mo' printed at the bottom).

All in all, a scarce little book in fantastic condition for it's near 100 years.
