Solid Silver Ladies 'Bracelet' Wristwatch London 1977

This is a solid Sterling Silver Ladies bracelet wrist watch, fitted with a manual wind 17 jewel Swiss movement, & fully hallmarked for London 1977 (including the optional 1977 Queens head 'Silver Jubilee' mark).

The watch has a heavy Sterling Silver 'mesh' or 'woven' bracelet, with the front having a 'tiger stripe' pattern in relief.

The clasp & the watch housing have had a silvered 'bark' effect finish

The watch is fitted with a manual-wind, Swiss made, 17 jewel 'INCABLOC' movement by 'Pilot'. The analog face has a 'sunburst' pattern with index hour markers & the case is made of stainless steel.

The watch is fully hallmarked to the clasp with the makers mark 'LJ', the lion passant (925 sterling), the leopards head (London). the date letter 'c' (1977), & the Queens head (Silver Jubilee mark). The clasp cover also carries the lion passant.

Condition is good, the movement runs fine & keeps good time (approx 2 mins fast over a 12 hour period - not bad for a 31 year old watch !). The original finish (a 'high shine' silver coating over the sterling, popular in the 70's) has worn in places, but this is the norm & in no way affects the appearance, and there is a little surface wear to the end of the strap where it slides into the clasp, as would be expected .

The watch is approx 7" long (exc. the clasp) & 1/2" wide at the face (the strap tapers down slightly from the face).

The weight of the watch, excluding the movement, is 35 g, or 1.13 Troy.

All in all, a nice piece of solid silver 70's jewellery, in great order, & just as fashionable today.
