Georgian Scottish Provincial Silver Spoon: Dundee 1810

This is a provincial Scottish Sterling Silver teaspoon, made during the reign of George III by the Dundee silversmith David Manson, & hallmarked for Dundee circa 1810.

The spoon is of a variation on the Old English pattern, with a very thin terminal.

The front of the terminal has the initials 'AW' engraved in script.

The spoon is fully hallmarked to the rear of the terminal with the makers marks of David Manson, which consist of the Dundee town mark of a pot of lilies, with 'DM' in a square cartouche at either side. This mark can be found on page 600 of Jackson's, which dates this mark to around 1810.

Condition is good for its 198 years, there is a little slight dimpling to the underside of one side of the bowl, but this is quite minor & does not detract, given the spoons age.

WEIGHT : the spoon weighs approx 12.2 g.

DIMENSIONS : Approx length is 13.5 cm (approx 5 3/8").

Overall, a rare provincial Scottish Silver spoon, with clear hallmarks, & in good condition for its 198 years.
