This is a small Scottish pottery bowl by Wemyss, finished in a yellow glaze, & dating to around 1900. The bowl was catalogued as a salt, but would make a nice little trinket dish, or an unusual addition to any Wemyss collection. The bowl has a scalloped or slightly pinched rim, & has been finished in an uneven Golden Yellow glaze, which turns to a deep Orange in parts. There are traces of a Red line detail to the rim edge. The base of the bowl has 3 small spur marks (left by the support during firing), and has the impressed 'WEMYSS' mark (in a straight line), & the pattern ? number '127' underneath. Condition is Fine, there is very light crazing to the glaze, & one of the spur marks has lifted a tiny bit of glaze on the base - please see magnified photos. The bowl is approx 1 1/4" high, & approx 2 5/8" in diameter at the top (widest point) or approx 3.2 cm x 6.8 cm. Overall, a nice little Wemyss pot from circa 1900, very different from the usual decorated ware, and in fine condition.
