This is a figural apple sauce pot, complete with original glass liner, & made of silver plate by William Suckling (Shirtcliffe) of Birmingham between 1921 and 1931. The pot is in the form of an apple, and has a carrying handle at either side, The stalk of the apple acts as the pot's lid, which has a small 'keyhole' aperture on the side to accommodate the stem of a serving spoon. The pot is fully marked to the base with 'MADE IN ENGLAND', 'W.S & S' (William Suckling & Shirtcliffe), the 'lamp post' trade mark, 'EPNS A1', and the pattern No. '1190'. This particular mark was only used for the 10 year period between 1921 - 31. Condition is good for it's 80 odd years, there is the expected light wear to the base, & there is a little rubbing of the plate to the top of the lid - please see magnified photos.. The pot stands approx 4 1/4" high (10.5 cm) to the top of the stalk. PLEASE NOTE : We are based in Scotland, UK. If you wish to purchase in GBP (£35), please email or phone. We accept all major credit / debit cards, paypal, cheques, or payment upon collection.
