This is a solid Silver handled letter opener by Georg Jensen, in the 'Acorn' pattern, & bearing both Danish Sterling and English import hallmarks for London 1971. The opener, which has a solid Silver handle & a stainless steel blade, is in the famous 'Acorn' pattern, which was designed in 1915 by Johan Rohde, the first artist to collaborate with Georg Jensen. One side of the handle bears the present Jensen mark (used since 1945 & with incuse lettering), & the makers mark 'G.J Ld' (for Georg Jensen Ltd). The other side of the handle has 'STERLING DENMARK', & the 'omega' mark (import mark for London), the Lion Passant (925 Sterling), & the date letter 'q' (1971 - 72). The shaped blade has 'georg jensen denmark stainless' etched onto one side. Condition is Fine for it's 38 years, with no damage. The opener measures approx 7 3/4" long (approx 19.5 cm), with a blade length of approx 4 3/4" (approx 12.2 cm).
