Wade Irish Porcelain Coffee Set by James Borsey 1962

This is a matching three piece coffee set consisting of a coffee pot, creamer, & sugar, designed by James Borsey, & made by Wade Ireland around 1962.

The set is in the 'Raindrops' pattern, with each piece having a moulded, stylised 'raindrop' design around their circumference, & finished in Wade's typical high gloss, blue & beige / brown drip glaze.

Each piece carries an embossed backstamp consisting of a 'celtic knot' cartouche containing 'Irish Porcelain by Wade Ireland', with the coffee pot & sugar having the addition of the embossed motto 'DESIGN BY James Borsey' underneath the cartouche.

Both these particular backstamps (the 'signed' & 'unsigned' stamps known as mark type 33 & 33a respectively) were used in 1962, which would date the set to this period.

Condition is Excellent, with no chips, cracks, crazing, or restoration. The only thing to note is that there is extremely light surface wear to the unglazed base rims (as would be expected) - please see magnified photos.

The height of the coffee pot (to the top of the lid handle) is approx 6 1/4" (15.9cm), the creamer (at highest point) approx 2 1/2" (6.4cm), & the sugar approx 2" (5cm).

Overall, a lovely set of vintage Irish Wade, in excellent condition.

Please Note Re Postage: Due to the weight (over 1.3kg packed) Collection, or delivery within reason, is available in the Edinburgh / W lothian area.
