Carlton Ware 'Rouge Royale' Preserve Pot 1950's

This is a Carlton Ware leaf shaped, lidded preserve or jam pot, in the 'Rouge Royale' pattern, & fully backstamped & with an impressed number dating the piece to 1955 - 58.

The base of the pot is oval in form with a moulded leaf design to the exterior, & is finished in a deep red through almost black (towards the top) pearlised glaze, with a gilt lined rim.

The lid of the pot is in the form of a leaf with a cut out at the 'stalk' end (for a spoon), & is finished in the same coloured glaze as the base, with a gilt stalk & edging & gilt highlighting to the leafs 'veins'.

The interior of both the base & lid have a pearlised finish.

The base is fully stamped with the Carlton Ware post 1940 printed mark & the (very feint) impressed number '2378' ?, which dates the pot to around 1955 - 58.

Condition is Fine with no chips, cracks, hairlines, or restoration. The gilding is Fine.

The dish measures (at the widest points) approx 4" long, 3" wide, & 3 3/8" high to the top of the stalk (approx 10.1cm, 7.6cm, & 8.6cm).
