This is a Silver napkin or serviette ring decorated with an Enamel flag of Belgium, by the silversmiths W Wilkinson Ltd, & fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1914. The ring would have been part of a set featuring the flags of the Allies at the outbreak of World War One (We have also listed Japan). The circular ring is bowed in form, with rolled edges. The flag (which stands proud) is decorated in Black, Yellow, & Red enamel. The ring is fully hallmarked with the makers mark 'W.W.Ld' (W Wilkinson Ltd), the anchor (Birmingham), the lion passant (925 Sterling), & the date letter 'p' (1914 - 15). Condition is Good. The surface of the ring is slightly uneven to the touch & there are 3 extremely tiny knocks to the base rim (you really need a loupe to notice this). The enamel is perfect. The ring is rather small, measuring approx 1 5/8" in diameter & approx 1/2" deep (approx 4.2cm x 1.2cm). The weight is 4.6 g.
