This is a lovely, gilded, continental 935 Silver & Guilloche Enamel rouge pot / pill box / compact?, hallmarked with '935' & a makers or assay mark, & probably dating to the early part of the 20th C. The hinged box is circular in form, with a Gilded exterior & a stunning 'honeycomb' Guilloche enamel lid in a very deep purple (or a lighter purple, depending on the angle of light). The box opens via a thumb catch to the front, & opens to reveal a vermeil interior. The interior is hallmarked to the base with '935' in a rectangular cartouche (935 standard Silver), & a makers or assay mark, again in a rectangular cartouche. The makers mark has not been cleanly struck so is difficult to decipher - please see magnified photo. In addition to the marks, '15' has been stamped to both lid & base. Condition is good. The exterior gilding is a little rubbed, there is a very small area of wear to the edge of the enamel (above the hinge), & there is very light, age related surface marks to the mirror like enamel (difficult to see). The small box measures just under 1 1/2" in diameter (approx 3.6cm), approx 3/16" (approx 0.5cm) deep, & weighs 20.2 g.
