This is a stunning late Victorian solid 18 ct Gold bar brooch, intricately detailed with a bead, floral, & stylised shell design, & dating to around 1880 - 1900. The brooch is rectangular in form with applied semi-circle ends, & a 'c' clasp fixing. The edges of the brooch have been decorated with applied Gold 'beads', whilst the semi-circular ends each contain a Gold stylised shell or half flower. The front of the brooch has a border of Gold rope edged beads & the raised rectangular, rope edged frame in the centre contains six Gold rope edged flower heads, each separated by a Gold bead. As with a lot of jewellery of this period, the piece is unmarked but has been acid tested at around 18 carat, & is fully guaranteed as such. Condition is Fine. Around five of the 'beads' around the edge of the brooch are holed (only seen under a loupe & does not detract in any way) & the end of the pin has a slight bend - please see magnified photos. The brooch measures approx 1 3/4" long (approx 4.5cm) & weighs 5.6 grammes. Overall, a simply stunning & elegant, high carat Victorian Gold brooch. Collection is welcome in the W Lothian / Edinburgh area.
