This is an Art Deco period three piece tea service, made in Stoke-on-Trent, England, by Arthur Wood, & bearing the 1934 + backstamp. The set, which is in the 'QUEEN' pattern, consists of a large teapot, a large sugar, & a creamer; all hexagonal in form, with a fluted detail to the lower half. Each piece is finished in a glazed, very pale Yellow ground & all feature Gilding to the base, rim, & handles. Both sides of each piece feature a heavily Gilded 'leaf & grass' design, with the leaves having a raised detail. The base of each piece is impressed with 'QUEEN' & 'ENGLAND', & all have the 'QUALITY - ARTHUR WOOD - ENGLAND' printed mark (1934 - 45), & the gilt, hand painted number '1058'. The teapot has the additional impressed number '36'. Condition is fine, with the only damage at all being a tiny little chip to the interior lip of the teapot spout. The Gilding is in fantastic condition for it's 70 odd years, with no visible wear. The teapot stands approx 6" high (to top of finial) and is 9 1/4" from the tip of the spout to rear of the handle (15.2cm & 23.5cm). The sugar is approx 3 3/4" high (9.8cm), & the creamer approx 3 1/2" high (9cm).
