English Silver & Cranberry Glass Perfume Bottle 1911

This is an early George V era Silver topped cranberry glass perfume bottle, by the silversmith Charles May, & fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1911.

The glass bottle, which has a deep cranberry colour, is cylindrical in form & has been mounted with a Silver thread & has a Silver screw fit top.

The Silver top has a beautiful, floral repousse decoration to all surfaces, consisting of large flower heads.

The top is fully hallmarked with the makers mark 'CM' (Charles May), the lion passant (925 Sterling), the anchor (Birmingham), & the date letter 'm' (1911 - 12).

Condition is fairly good for it's near 100 years. The main points to note are a very small chip & a few tiny nibbles to the edge of the base, & the silver top has two very light & small bruises to the edge (very difficult to see due to the repousse decoration). The top has an excellent & tight fit.

The bottle measures approx 2 3/4" long, with a diameter of 5/8" (approx 7cm x 1.7cm).
