This is a large cut glass perfume bottle mounted with a Silver hinged top & collar, by the silversmith Albert Carter, & fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1943. The bottle, in the form of a globe, has a diamond & octagonal facet cut decoration to the body & faceted shoulders. The hinged Silver lid flares upwards to the circular top, which has an Art Deco engine turned decoration with two 'sky scraper' motifs at either side of a rectangular, & vacant, cartouche. The top hinges open to reveal the original glass stopper, which has a faceted top & a frosted stem. Both the Silver collar & top are hallmarked; the collar with the makers mark 'AC' (Albert Carter, who worked from Frederick St, Birmingham), the anchor (Birmingham), the lion passant (925 Sterling), & the date letter 'T' (1943 - 44). The lion passant & date letter are repeated to the lid. Condition is fine. The Silver top has a minute bruise to the edge & the interior silver lip has a few, light bruises (minor & only visible when the top is open). The bottle has no chips, cracks, or repairs. The interior base has a little perfume residue & there is the expected, minute nibbles to the facets, which are only visible under a loupe. The faceted top of the stopper a two small chips. The bottle stands approx 3 3/4" high & is approx 3" in diameter (approx 9.5cm & 7.7cm). PLEASE NOTE : We are based in Scotland, UK. If you wish to purchase in GBP (£110), please email or phone. We accept all major credit / debit cards, paypal, cheques, or payment upon collection.
