Card 3 Silver Christmas Pudding Charms 1920's: Swastika

This is a vintage card of three Sterling Silver Christmas pudding charms, unused & still attached to the card with string, & dating to the 1920's / early 1930's.

These original carded Silver pudding charms are now becoming scarce, & this particular set containing the swastika charm, is perhaps one of the rarest.

Although the swastika is an ancient & sacred symbol of happiness, the adoption of it by the NSDAP in the 1920's changed peoples perception of it's meaning & it soon fell out of favour as a good luck charm.

The top of the card has 'LUCKY CAKE & PUDDING PRIZES' in a garland, with a Christmas tree to either side, & the bottom states 'STERLING SILVER - MADE IN ENGLAND'.

The charms are all named & consist of 'GOOD LUCK' - a Horseshoe, 'BATCHELOR' - a Button, & 'HAPPINESS' - a Swastika.

The charms are very small (the button is 1/2" or 1.3cm in diameter), & are of embossed (rather than solid) construction, & thus are quite fragile. I would be amazed if these particular charms would be allowed in this day & age, due to 'Health and Safety' regulations.

The card & charms are in fantastic, original condition : the card is a little bit discoloured in places & the charms are tarnished.

Please Note : Orkney Antiques are offering these vintage charms as a purely collectable item, not intended for use, and as such, accepts no responsibility should these charms be used in a pudding, or anything else, for that matter.
