This is a signed oil on board by the Scottish artist William Truefitt, entitled 'My Holiday', & dated 1899.

The painting is a coastal landscape, with a figure of a seated Victorian Lady to the fore. The painting is signed & dated to the lower right, with the original title label verso.

Provenance: Before we acquired the work, 'My Holiday' was last sold at Christie's, Scotland, on Thu 29 November 1990 (Lot 155).

The Truefitts' were a well known Edinburgh family in the Victorian era; William was a photographer & Artist, his Sons William & Peter were professional photographers (working from premises in Princes St), & his daughter Frances was an artist.

The painting is mounted & framed under glass.

The painting is in good, original condition, and although it has been protected under glass, it would be greatly enhanced by being professionally cleaned.

The original frame is in fair condition, with the loss of moulding to two corners.

The visible image is approx 11 1/8" x 8 7/8" (approx 28.2 x 22.5cm), whilst the frame measures approx 18 1/4" x 16 1/8" (approx 46.3 x 40.8cm).
