This is a cased set of six Silver Gilt & Enamel spoons by David Andersen, each spoon hallmarked for Norwegian 925 Sterling & with additional London import marks for 1938, & in a fitted Asprey case. Each spoon has a stepped & flared stem with a combination of Champleve & Basse Taille Enamel decoration, the main theme being a stylised 'leaf' design. Each spoon is fully hallmarked to the rear of the stem with the 'Hammer & Tongs' mark of David Andersen with '925' & 'S' (Norway 925 Sterling), with the heel of each bowl marked with the London import marks, consisting of 'LS' in a square cartouche (importers mark), 'Omega'mark (London import), '.925' (purity mark), & the date letter 'C' (1938 - 39). The case is covered in a dark Blue faux leather & is opened via a sprung button to reveal a Cream silk lined lid & a fitted velvet base. The silk lining is printed with 'ASPREY - 166 BOND ST - LONDON'. Each spoon measures approx 3 3/4" or 9.5cm in length. Condition of the spoons is Good. The Gilding is rubbed in places & one spoon has a small area of enamel missing to the lower stem. The other 5 spoons have perfect enamel. Condition of the case is fair, with light scuffing to the base & slight discolouration to the interior linings. Overall, a scarce set of 'dateable' David Andersen spoons, with the early hammer & tongs mark, & in Champleve & Basse Taille Enamel rather than the more usual Guilloche Enamel associated with Andersen.
