Pair Large Relief Cast Japanese Solid Bronze Vases 13"

This is a magnificent & large pair of Oriental / Japanese Bronze vases, cast in relief, & dating to the early part of the 20th Century.

The vases have been hot cast in solid Bronze, & are not modern, cold cast (bronze resin) reproductions.

The vases are baluster in form on a pedestal base, with a scalloped, flower like, rim and stylised Eagle & Serpent figural handles.

The body has been cast with a symmetrical Oriental design with a foliate border to the shoulders & base. The front & rear have an ovoid panel, with a branch & leaf border, containing a high relief casting of two birds flying around a flowering branch.

The neck has a cast, stylised dragon? motif to each side, with applied handles consisting of a Eagles? head with a serpent in it's mouth.

Condition is very good. The main points to note are that the base on one vase has had a slight knock, which has left a very slight split in the bronze (which does not affect its integrity in any way - please see photo), there is a very slight casting mark to the relief decoration on one side & one relief panel has a slight knock (very difficult to see, & again, does not affect the vase in any way).

The vases are approx 13 1/4" in height (approx 33.7cm), & are very heavy, weighing around 3.5 Kg unpacked (one vase is 1.645 KG & the other 1.760 Kg).

Overall, a magnificent pair of Japanese Bronze vases.

PLEASE NOTE TO OVERSEAS CUSTOMERS RE SHIPPING : The vases will be shipped using DHL to most of Europe for £24.00 GBP, but please email me to check, as shipping to some countries (eg Switzerland) are considerably more expensive.
